Continuing Education For A Nevada Electrical Contractor

Within the last few of years, local city governments have mandated continuing education classes for Nevada electrical contractors. Some cities and counties even require electrical contractors to earn a certain number of continuing education credits before they can renew their licenses.

I am a big proponent of continuing education in our industry. Many people who receive their licenses after an apprenticeship think they never have to learn anything new again.  However, no industry stays the same. Technology continues to change how we all do business with our customers.

I believe every Nevada electrical contractor can benefit from taking continuing education classes. There are consequences when you do not learn new skills and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in your industry. You lose your competitive edge. Eventually, you lose business to your competitors who have embraced learning.

Continuing education classes regarding codes and safety are constantly being offered to a Nevada electrical contractor through many different industry associations. These associations also offer training classes to help develop and improve leadership skills. In addition, websites approved by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) offer online classes and training. The online classes help contractors who are struggling to fit in person continuing education classes into their busy schedules. All these classes will help to build and improve electrical contractors’ skills.

There are variety of choices of continuing education classes available to a Nevada electrical contractor. It is important that we all take advantage of them to improve not only our business practices but also our service to our customers. There are many advantages to requiring continuing education classes. The classes can only improve how we all run our businesses. I look forward to seeing how the industry grows as the material and lessons from the continuing education classes begin to be implemented.
