A Sparks Electrician on Updating Your Light with a Ceiling Fan

“If I have a light fixture in my ceiling, can I have a ceiling fan installed in its place?”

I get asked this question frequently.  My answer is “Yes, if the box that supports the light fixture is rated to carry the weight of the fan”. If not, it is an easy job to install a fan rated box (rated for 50 lbs) which will support the weight of the ceiling fan.  Ceiling fans need the extra support provided by a fan rated box; otherwise you may risk a giant propeller falling on you some night!

Add to the comfort of your environment with a ceiling fan.  You can also get ceiling fans with single light or multi-light  options also, so you won’t lose the overhead illumination.  Make sure you choose a licensed Sparks electrician like The Electric Company to do the job right.  You’ll be glad you did!

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
